Pennsylvania Avenue, between 3rd and 6th Streets. Washington, DC. Culture, food, music, costumes, performances, street dancing, etc. Fun times!
Great pics Mariel! ;)
Thank you so much! :)
Oh, wow! I would have loved to take part in that and joined those kids in Filipino costumes, haha! Wonderful, colorful photos, Mariel.
Were the participants residents of DC only? Children from the diplomatic community, maybe? :)
Thanks, Tita Buds! Most of the participants were from the DC area, but some were from elsewhere. I loved those Filipino kids! So cheerful and friendly. They came all the way from Davao as part of a group called Songspell which performs for the Fil-Am community here.
Is this celebration part of Asian-Pacific Heritage Month observed during the month of May?
Very vibrant & colorful!
Yes, it is part of Asian Pacific Heritage Month. It’s also part of this international culture celebration called Passport DC, which also included embassy open houses, a children’s festival, etc. Great events!
Do you know which countries they are representing?
Many countries were represented, but I didn’t stay by the stage the whole time since there were many booths and other presentations. In these photos, the countries represented are India, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Mongolia, China (+ Taiwan), Tajikistan and Nepal.
